Our Story
Megan & Mike
Megan came from a very animal-centered family, with her youth spent showing horses, sheep, and beef cattle in 4H. Her family raised Great Danes, but on her 10th birthday she wanted a dog of her own, and to her delight, she received a Chihuahua. From there, she discovered dog training and got hooked on competitive Obedience. In her early 20s, she was on the lookout for a small, versatile, sporty breed, and after doing some research, she met a Border Terrier in person and eventually purchased her first LBD (Little Brown Dog), Sexy Lexi.
Megan continued to pursue many dog sports, mainly Flyball, Agility, Lure Coursing and Earthdog. She met Mike in Fort McMurray on a job site, got married, and together they moved to an acreage just outside of Calgary, Alberta. Over the next 15 years, Megan continued her love of training, competing and raising her dogs with the encouragement and support of Mike. In 2022, they decided it was time to be closer to family, moved back to beautiful Nova Scotia, and settled in Hantsport.

VERSATERRE
One of the things that impressed me about this breed was their versatility. Everything I did with them, whether it be instinctual, sport, obedience, literally everything, they rose to the occasion and excelled. This is where the inspiration for my Kennel name came from, Versatile + Terriers = Versaterre. If you are looking for a smaller sized walking/jogging partner, cuddle buddy, family pet or training partner, this is your breed.
